Currently Crushing: The Dancing Plague

n 1518, a bunch of people from a french town called Stransbourg were affected by something called dancing mania. It began with one lady named Frau Troffea dancing in the street and end up with, more or less, 400 people dancing on for days without rest, resulting in some deaths of heart attack, stroke and exhaustion. This project is, in some sort of way, a memorial for Frau Toffea.

Mumbai had its very own flash mob dance ! I was lucky enough to witness it live and the rush it gives you is like no other. It took place at the iconic CST station on a Sunday evening and the reactions of people around me was amazing! I had taken a video but I'm glad I didnt put it up because this video is so much better! I'm really hoping I can be a part of the next one :)

Its a must watch! And will definitely brighten up your day! :)

It feels so absolutely wonderful to think of something other than my thesis. My mind is so excited about the possibilities that await that it keeps flitting from one to the next.. These are the few things that are currently stuck in my head...

1. No Nasties
This was an initiative that was started as a need to do something about the alarming number of farmer suicides in India. They strive to combine organic farming which benefits both farmers and the environment along with cool t shirt designs. Have a look below!

My favourite : The  'Where You At Mumbai' Tshirt

"Nathulal"

" Mulga Mulgi"

Bonus: Their t shirts are super soft!
Extra points: They offer online shopping and shipping within  India.

Read more about their incredible initiative on their wesite here !
In Mumbai, they retail at Attic ( Colaba and Santacruz) and Our Lil Bit ( Versova)

2. Rehab- Amy Winehouse

Currently Crushing ( and Seriously in Awe)

Take a guess as to what this is...

Its a ceiling fan with a light!! And its fittingly titled "Dervish Lamp"

Philliippe Malouin is a genius. Read more here .

P.S. : It was inspired by a car wash!

Oh How i would love to have this piece of eye candy near my bed !

( via blue moss )

This a rug that was given away by free people. How absolutely gorgeous is it!
Funnily enough, it reminded me of something I saw in the chawls near Dadar that day. It was a blanket which had the most incredible colours that was blowing in the breeze. Take a look below...

I am in love with these colours. I love how you find something so similar in 2 completely different scenarios in opposite corners of the world.

Also if you are interested, here is a diy free people put up for the rug!

I love everything about this room.. the quirky curtains, the embroidered pillows which add a touch of whimsy, the bright turquoise wall, the pop of colour in the yellow vase, the windows throwing in lovely light and the oh so comfortable looking rocking chair.
Its the perfect summer room!

I love designing modernistic and minimalistic spaces but hen it comes to picturing a room for myself, the immediate image that springs to mind is a room full of colour filled with all sorts of unique objects lovingly collected from all over.

This space...

" Warm colours, art that drew the eye rather than baffled it, comfortable chairs, glossy tables and flowers, flowers, and more flowers mixed together with that style, that class, that weight. "

This description...

" She had a face for candlelight, he supposed. Elegant, but not cold, unless she wanted it to be. Sexy, but subtle, like a hint of lace under a starched shirt. "

Both are from the Fourth book " Happy ever After " in the Bride Quartet series by Nora Roberts.

I cannot get over these photos taken by Edward Horsford!
Caught on camera at an incredible 1/40,000ths of a second these photos show the spectacular moment water balloons pop - at speeds normally too quick to see.
See the rest here ! Trust me, you dont want to miss seeing them!

Here's some middle-of -the-week cheer. The days are getting cold and this week seems to be stretching on. Im waiting excitedly for the weekend. Desperately craving some sleeeeep!

1. The holiday season.
Fairy lights rank high amongst my all time favourite things.

2.This weather! I'm sure everyone would be a whole lot nicer if the weather was like this the whole year round!
The only hard part is waking up every morning and getting out of your cozy blanket.

3. The anticipation of friends and family coming to visit. The happiness of being with people you love doesn't compare to anything else!

4. The way my dog nudges aside pillows to make space to cuddle with me :)

5. These lyrics...
"You learn to love to live,

You fight and you forgive,
You learn what's wrong and right,
You live before you die."
( credit : Live before you die : bon jovi )

6. My new grey bag with all its zips and pockets. It's structured, neutral and has lovely details. True love? Absolutely.

7. Re-decorating my room. Sorting through the old and taking out the new. Catharsis.

8. Street art in pretty colour combinations :)
